Via ere.net …

Despite the facts, 96% of organizations use reference checks as a screening and selection tool, according to a recent survey by SHRM.

Gartner Reveals Top Predictions for IT Organizations and Users for 2011 and Beyond

Via Gartner …

By 2015, 20 percent of non-IT Global 500 companies will be cloud service providers. The move by non-IT organizations to provide non-IT capabilities via cloud computing will further expand the role of IT decision making outside the IT organization. This represents yet another opportunity for IT organizations to redefine their value proposition as service enablers — with either consumption or provision of cloud-based services. As non-IT players externalize core competencies via the cloud, they will be interjecting themselves into value chain systems and competing directly with IT organizations that have traditionally served in this capacity.

Record U.S. Exports Reflect Midwest Boom With 3.7% Jobless

Via Bloomberg.com …

The unemployment rate in North Dakota is 3.7 percent, and “if it wasn’t for cable news, we probably wouldn’t have any idea that the rest of the country was any different,” said Doug Johnson, co-owner of crop insurer TCI Insurance in West Fargo, who added six new employees this year.

As businesses across the U.S. struggle to recover from the deepest recession since World War II and the national jobless rate remains stuck at 9.6 percent, Johnson has benefited from his location in the northern Great Plains, where a boom in commodities, such as wheat and soybeans, is helping to create jobs, lift farmers’ incomes and fuel demand for goods ranging from Deere & Co. tractors and Agco Corp. combines to dinners at local restaurants.

Indeed Slips Past Monster, Now Largest Job Site By Unique Visitors

One of the major benefits that Hirebridge provides to its clients is that we automatically submit each company’s public jobs to Indeed.com, SimplyHired and Google. We call this service, “ExpressPost,” and it greatly helps extend job postings well beyond a company’s website to bring a large amount of highly qualified candidates directly into their Hirebridge system.

Today, tech blog TechCrunch published a piece regarding Indeed.com’s recent announcement that it had achieved the status of becoming the largest online job search site:

In October, Job search engine Indeed.com slipped past Monster.com to become the largest job site in the U.S. According to comScore, 12.3 million people visited Indeed in October, up 19.6 percent. Monster.com attracted 12.1 million people, and CareerBuilder.com came in third with 11.3 million job seekers. It is still pretty close, with Indeed just barely edging out Monster. But this could very well be a turning point for leadership of the online job search category.

These are pretty impressive numbers for Indeed.com and we’re thrilled that we’re helping our clients get their jobs in front of so many candidates free of of charge.
